The 39th season of dirt track racing at Fayetteville Motor Speedway saw a lot of hot racing action in all classes for sure. Jeff Smith of Dallas took the Super Late Model crown for the third straight season at FMS to go along with his 2009 Carolina Clash Series title. Smith in his Star Leasing-Starrette Trucking-J&J Race Cars-American Race Tires Rocket machine beat out young lion Craig Shuffield of Fayetteville in his Southern Machine Shop entry for the top prize this season on the 4/10 mile clay oval and Smith had another outstanding season at FMS.

Raeford's Shaun Harrell repeated in the Limited Late Model division in his Carolina Concrete Finishing-AshworthPerformance Racing Engine ride as he held off Fayeteville's Wayne Gray Jr. for the top prize in this strong class this year at FMS. Harrell has now posted back to back championships at FMS in this class.

Puppy Creek's Ricky Boahn in the Bowden Motorsports Hassy Chassis had a real duel most of the year with hard charging Carlos Jaramillo of Fayetteville for the Open Wheel Mod crown and Boahn edged out Jaramillo by a mere 12 points for his fifth Open Wheel Mod title in his career. Jaramillo for the second straight season at FMS settles for a runnerup spot in his Hassy Chassis hot rod for Mid South Wrecker Service. Look for a even stronger field of Open Wheels next season at FMS.

Fayetteville's hard charger Larry Willis took his first Super Street championship in his Willis Motorsports Camaro and Willis had a very solid year as the frontrunner most of the season. Hope Mills speedster Greg Bass Jr. took the runnerup spot for Bass Racing edging out Ron Pope of Dunn for the runnerup slot..

Fayetteville's A J Huffman may of had the best season out of all the drivers at FMS this year as he walked away with the U Car championship early on in his Bobby Ward Towing machine out of Fayetteville. Alan Smith and defending champ Eddie Longhany tied for the second spot in the final points tally this season.

12 year old Daulton Wilson powered his way to the Young Guns title in fine style for Wilson Motorsports in Fayetteville as Wilson turned a few heads this year with his strong driving style in the Young Gun class. Defending champ Zach Blackwell of Gray's Creek finished in the second spot in a class of very talented young drivers and they will all be even better in 2010 at FMS.

The 2009 Championship Awards night will be held in January and the date will be announced soon by promoters Larry Norris and Ed Longhany. It will be held again a the Hope Mills Shrine Club in Hope Mills, NC Make plans now to attend and see the drivers and crews get their awards for their efforts at FMS. Congrats to all the divisions winners at FMS.

Larry and Ed and the entire staff at Fayetteville Speedway thanks everyone for your support this year and looks forward to a bigger and better 2010 season.

Fayetteville Speedway takes this time to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Healthy and Happy New Year. Please drive safely during the Holidays and enjoy it with your family and love ones. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the FMS Awards night and the rules will be ready for you to pick up for next season that evening.
